COVID-19

DEAR CHURCH FAMILY

A lot has happened since Sunday with the COVID-19 situation. We’ve been monitoring recommendations from the federal, state, and local agencies. The Elders met last night to talk through our plan to care for our Valley View family.

Yesterday, in the national press conference, we were advised to cancel all events and gatherings of more than 10 people for the next 2 weeks. We have decided to honor God by honoring those in authority over us and prioritize the safety of our community by following these recommendations.

WE WILL NOT GATHER FOR LIVE WORSHIP SERVICES IN OUR BUILDING ON MARCH 22 AND MARCH 29 BASED ON THESE RECOMMENDATIONS. INSTEAD, WE WILL HOLD OUR WORSHIP SERVICES ONLINE ON OUR WEBSITE, http://VVBC.ORG/. YOU CAN PARTICIPATE WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS AT HOME ON THESE TWO SUNDAYS.

THERE WILL BE NO WEDNESDAY NIGHT FOR YOUTH & ADULTS, AND NO THURSDAY NIGHT FOR COLLEGE/YOUNG ADULTS.

WE WILL ALSO NOT HAVE OUR CHURCH PICNIC THIS SUNDAY, March 22, 2020.

If you do not have the capability to participate online, there are two additional options:

1) Call-in to listen to the service on your phone. At 10:30 am you can call 1-717-275-8940 and enter access code 893 9223.

2) We will set-up a few classrooms at the church where you can come and watch the service online. We will have limited space available and each classroom will be limited to 10 or fewer people.

Also, I and a few others will be available at the church on these Sunday mornings to pray for those who need prayer.

Finally, we would like to have a time of devotion and prayer this Thursday, March 19, 2020 at 1:00 pm. You can call 1-717-275-8940 and enter access code 893 9223, and I will lead us through a time of devotion and prayer together. If you are not able to participate on this call, you may want to set aside some time this Thursday at 1:00 pm to pray on your own.  We will also cancel all midweek meetings.

We want to be prudent and wise, which is why we are taking these steps. We are not responding out of fear, but are wanting to be good citizens and neighbors. This national crisis presents us with new and unexpected opportunities to reach our neighbors with the Gospel.

We don’t have to give way to fear. We trust God in all things.

The church is not a building; we, the people, are the church. Where you are, the church is.

Let us know if you need anything, and we will have people bring it to you.

I pray for joy and peace in your life.

Pastor John
